Means of improving the quality and efficiency of tourism education is the theme of this publication, which contains contributions from 22 of the worlds leading tourism experts delivered at a conference in Madrid in 1996. Organized by UNWTO and the Spanish Association of Hotel Managers, the conference included an overview of the challenges facing the tourism industry as it enters the new millennium, forecasts of the future human resource demands, an analysis of the current state of tourism education and case studies of new technologies and procedures used in tourism education.
